Fall of 2008

We are getting nicely settled in to our lives back in Boulder. Mia's loving her new school, and is making a lot of friends. I am enjoying being close to friends again. Even though I haven't been nearly as productive artistically, it's a trade off.

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to for the past month.

Mia went to an outdoor education camp with her school for 3 days and 2 nights. I gave her my backpack to wear on the 1/4 mile hike up to the cabins, thinking it would be very helpful to her and free up her hands. However, it seems putting 30 pounds on the back of a 70 pound girl is not so helpful. Luckily Mia has developed a feminine charm and got two boys to carry her backpack for her up the hill. So much of women's lib.

We went to the Rocky Mountain National Park to see the colors and elk. We did get to see both and it was beautiful, but not the most original idea. Apparently everybody in the Denver Metro area does the same thing on the same weekend every year. (Notice the row of cars in the background).

In the beginning of October Mia and I joined my mom to walk in the Race for the Cure. It was a moving experience to see thousands of people commited to the cause of finding a cure for breast cancer, and to see so many healthy and vibrant survivors, one of which is my amazing mom.
